How do I upload a key using my BitBox?

Keys are required to create vaults and loans. You will use a BitBox hardware wallet to upload a key to your account.

What you'll need

• Your BitBox hardware wallet with its USB cord
• A PC or Mac with USB ports to connect your hardware wallet
• An approved Unchained account

How to upload a BitBox key to your account

1. Follow BitBox’s guide to set up the device as new.
2. Sign in to your Unchained account, click Keys on the left side menu and Upload a new key.
3. Type a name for your key and click Next.
4. Choose Bitbox as your hardware wallet and click Next. 
5. Connect your BitBox to the computer and tap the bottom to select a screen orientation.
6. In your Unchained account select Connect to BitBox.
7. Unlock your BitBox by entering your device password.
8. A pop-up in your browser may appear with a pairing code. Compare and confirm the pairing code on your BitBox device and confirm. 
9. Confirm exporting the xpub on the BitBox.
   • Your Bitbox will warn you that the xpub derivation path is unusual. You can safely ignore the message and proceed confirm exporting the xpub on the device.
10. On your Unchained account, select Create Key. 
11. That’s it! You can now use your key to create vaults and loans.
