How do I add a bank account to my loan?

In order to apply for a loan, you will need to add a bank account using Plaid. Once added, you can select it as a payment method for your loan.

First, let’s add a bank account to your profile (Instant verification):

  1. Log in to your Unchained account and click Bank details from the drop down menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Add account and review the terms of the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
  3. Select Instant and click Continue.
  4. Choose your bank from the list of institutions or use the search bar to locate your bank and read the information regarding the authentication process. 
  5. Log in to your bank using your online banking credentials.
  6. Continue with identity verification if prompted.
  7. Select your bank account from the list.
  8. If no further review is required, a success message displays and the bank account is ready for immediate use. Bank account reviews are usually completed within 1-2 business days.

Manual verification:

  1. Log in to your Unchained account and click Bank details from the drop down menu in the upper-right corner.
  2. Click Add account and review the terms of the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
  3. Select Manual and click Continue.
  4. Enter your routing number and click Continue.
  5. Enter your account number and click Continue.
  6. Confirm your account number and click Continue.
  7. Select either Personal or Business and click Continue.
    1. If Personal:
      1. Enter your name as it appears on your bank account and click Continue.
      2. Select Checking or Savings and click Continue.
      3. Read the information regarding the two deposits and withdrawals and click Authorize if you agree.
      4. Come back to this page in 1 business day to click Verify account and confirm the two deposits. If successful, the bank account will be ready for immediate use.
    2. If Business:
      1. Enter an account holder’s name and click Continue.
      2. Select Checking or Savings and click Continue.
      3. Read the information regarding the two deposits and withdrawals and click Authorize if you agree.
      4. Come back to this page in 1 business day to click Verify account and confirm the two deposits. If successful, the bank account will be ready for immediate use.

Once the bank account is successfully added, you’ll be able to select it as a payment method for your loan when completing an application.

To add a new bank account to an existing loan:

  1. Follow the Instant or Manual verification steps outlined above.
  2. Navigate to your loan page by clicking Loans on the left side of the screen and selecting your loan from the list.
  3. Click SHOW MORE in the top left tile.
  4. Click Change payment method.
  5. Select your Plaid-verified bank account from the drop down menu and click Next.
  6. Read the ACH Authorization Terms of Service, click the checkbox and Submit if you agree.
