How do I transfer my vault subscription?

You can transfer subscriptions from one vault to another within the same account.

Note for clients with account-level billing: Some Unchained clients are grandfathered into an account-level billing plan and can create additional vaults at no cost. Signature clients can also create multiple vaults at no extra cost.

If you only need to replace a single key in your vault, we recommend performing a key replacement. However, there may be a time when you want to create a completely new vault with two brand new keys. In this scenario, you can transfer your active vault subscription from one vault to another.

Both vaults must reside within the same account. For example, you can create a second vault within a personal account, but you cannot transfer a subscription from a personal vault to a business or trust vault. There is a 30-day grace period where both vaults will remain active, giving you time to transfer bitcoin between them.

How to transfer vault subscriptions

  1. Navigate to the account where you want to create a new vault.
  2. Click Vaults in the top navigation bar and click + New vault.
  3. Name your vault.
  4. Choose Transfer from existing vault and choose the old vault you want to close.

  5. Select two keys. Shared keys are grey-colored, and personal keys are green. Click Continue.
  6. Review the information and click Create vault.
  7. You have 30 days to transfer the bitcoin from the old vault or reactivate the subscription. Navigate to your old vault and click Create withdrawal.

  8. To transfer to the new vault, choose Transfer (internal) and choose the new vault.
  9. Complete the withdrawal by signing with your keys and broadcasting.
