How do I fund my donor-advised (DAF) vault with a charitable contribution?

Deposit bitcoin to your DAF vault using a deposit address.

Tip: You can donate bitcoin or other assets to your DAF. For non-bitcoin donations, follow the instructions of your DAF sponsor.

What you'll need to make a bitcoin donation

  • A DAF shared vault with a DAF sponsor
  • A deposit address for your DAF shared vault
  • Your source of bitcoin funds, commonly an exchange or external bitcoin wallet

How to deposit to your DAF shared vault:

  1. Navigate to your vault dashboard.
  2. Click on the name of your DAF vault.
  3. Click on Deposit.
  4. Copy your deposit address, which looks like a string of letters and numbers, OR prepare to scan the QR code at a later step.
  5. Using your source of bitcoin funds, send your transaction to the DAF deposit address.
  6. Done!

Note: To receive tax benefits, bitcoin donations of greater than $5,000 may require a qualified appraisal completed by a qualified appraiser. Work with a tax advisor to see if your donation requires qualified appraisal.
